Vietnamese Mining giant, Masan Resources recently moved its 500 employees – business users and senior management – to the cloud with Sri Lankan cloud experts and leading enterprise IT advisor, H One. As part of a broader cloud vision, Masan’s Group companies will also move to the cloud with Microsoft Office 365 productivity and collaboration tools, Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services, and Windows Intune to manage and protect the company’s devices.

Masan Resources is best known as one of Vietnam’s most successful companies specializing in niche industrial minerals such as tungsten, fluorspar and bismuth. Its parent company, Masan Group, which was recently hailed as one of Vietnam’s top 50 companies by Forbes, is known for its aggressive pursuit of market leadership and aims to become one of Vietnam’s leading growth partners and employers of choice.

Commenting on the project, Masan Resources IT Manager Tranh Duc Minh said, “The cloud project was very successful. Our employees are already seeing the benefits of moving to the cloud in terms of productivity and workstyle flexibility. H One, our cloud partner, carried out detailed project planning and utilized best practices to ensure a flawless migration and smooth transition with minimal impact on the users.”

Further, he said “H One’s technical team also provided us with continuous support and ensured our in-house IT team received the necessary training, knowledge-transfers, communication strategies and documentation to support business users throughout the transition process.”

The move to the cloud which spanned just three weeks has enabled the company’s workforce to be more agile, and to work more effectively on-the-go. Users are empowered with anywhere access to their virtual office on multiple devices, using a single account.

Office 365’s range of user plans has also enable d the company to provide their employees with access to the latest tools, more cost-effectively. Instead of opting for a one-size-fits-all plan, users can opt for plans that are better aligned with their technology needs. With predictable pricing, and almost no upfront costs, Office 365 has helped the company reduce IT management demands and costs significantly. This has in turn freed up the company’s IT resources to work on strategic initiatives and support the business better.

Speaking about Masan’s transition to the cloud, CEO Samath Fernando said, “We are proud to be Masan Resource’s chosen cloud partner. As one of Vietnam’s premier mining and minerals companies, Masan Resources is taking a bold step forward in adopting cloud technology to not only increase efficiency and drive greater growth, but to transform the way the industry operates in the region. We look forward to helping them leverage the latest technology to achieve even greater success.”

H One’s Cloud Team adopts global best practices advocated by the Microsoft Center of Excellence Team for Office 365.
